介紹 INTRODUCTION

This was a collaborative project. We collaborated with the dancer Vakulya Zoltán and brought a series of digital performances to the audience.
In this project, the dancer danced in designed light and shadow. The light and shadow amplified the dancer’s physical movements and immersed the audience in it. The intention of this performance was to lead the audience to think about the relation between the dancer and the light.
發想過程 THE CONCEPT

In the digital age, technology plays an increasingly important role and the "virtual" world has become a part of our life. However, people seldom think about the relation between the "virtual" and the "physical" because people is used to being with technologies all the time. Through this digital performance, my partners and I want to show a new way to experience the interaction between the virtual and physical elements. We hope that the audience could open their eyes and have a brand new perspective in daily life.

After my partners and I had tried many experiments, we decided to combine the “physical” shadows cast by the ground lamps and the “virtual” shadow- images projected by the projectors. In the performance, the dancer danced with the real shadow, the digital shadow, and the coding particles. The audience could observe the interaction between these different elements. We tried to give the audience a completely new feeling about the real and the virtual.  In sum, We aimed to inspire the audience to think about the relation between the virtual and physical elements in daily life.
技術 TECHNOLOGY

I used Arduino to control the relays, so I could turn on and off the ground lights with coding. During the performance, I programed the the relays with the beats of the live music. Therefore, the audience could enjoy the live music not only with the dancer's movement but also with the light design.

In order to let the audience feel the dancer's movement strongly, we used four projectors in total to make the shadows and projections  as large as possible, even  fill the entire space.
